Development works in Varanasi have gained momentum under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Kashi is now being rejuvenated. Projects are being delivered on time. Numerous initiatives have been undertaken to enhance the health sector. In the last two and half years, 1200 crore rupees have been spent in healthcare sector.
Prime Minister Modi dedicated a 334 bed trauma centre in Banaras Hindu University. The trauma centre, built with a corpus of Rs. 146.60 crore, would provide round the clock free checkups and treatments for patients. The per-bed grant for 334 beds of trauma centre has been increased from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 2 lakh. Also, Rs. 103 crore has been dedicated towards telemedicine.
In order to facilitate patients, the number of beds in Sir Sunderlal Hospital has been increased from 1200 to 1500. Along with that, the foundation stone of the Madan Mohan Malviya Cancer Centre having 250 beds costing Rs 580 crore was laid. PM Modi also laid the foundation stone of the 250-bed Centenary Super Specialty Complex at IMS costing Rs. 200 crores.
The Prime Minister sanctioned Rs 50 lakhs for free treatment of critical diseases to the BPL card holders from the National Health Fund. This would ensure availability of affordable medicines under the Amrit scheme.
At Pandeypur ESI Hospital, the number of beds has been increased from 60 to 150 at a cost of Rs. 150 crore. Rs. 3.5 crore has been allotted for ESI dispensary. Chaikaghat and Durgakund maternity hospitals have also been revamped under the NHM and the one at Shivpur has been renovated.
It is clear that PM Modi, in his constituency, has initiated several works in healthcare sector which is benefitting many. Healthcare facilities worth over Rs. 1200 core have been initiated in the region which is proving to be beneficial for entire Poorvanchal region.
