Manipur can contribute immensely to India's development: Shri Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed a huge public meeting in Imphal, Manipur. During his address Shri Modi thanked the people of Manipur for their love and support. He said, “My gratitude to people of Manipur for their blessings and affection.”

PM highlighted that the NDA Govt at the Centre was committed towards the development of eastern India. He said, “After coming to power in 2014, we came out with 'Act East Policy'. Until our eastern part prospers, the country would not develop.” He further added, “Unity of Manipur, welfare of its people and development of the state is our only goal.”

PM opined that the talented youth of Manipur was waiting for opportunities. He said, “Manipur's youth can do wonders. We want to give them opportunities to shine.” Shri Modi mentioned that the state lacked good job opportunities for the youth. He remarked, “People here aren't getting jobs on the basis of merits. One has to bribe to secure a job. This will end under the BJP.”

Shri Modi recalled the contribution of former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee towards developing the eastern states and said, “When Atal ji formed Government, and he made policies for overall development of Northeast. But Congress did not carry the good work forward.”

PM attacked the Congress Party and said, “Congress, which is in power for the last 15 years in Manipur, have not done anything to develop the state.” Shri Modi alleged that the Congress party was not undertaking welfare measures for people of the state. He said, “Today, wherever Congress government is there, the state lacks progress. Every BJP governed state today is progressing at fast pace.”

PM Modi stressed that the fight against corruption and black money would continue and those who had looted the country would not go unpunished. “Rights of common citizens would be protected”, Shri Modi said.

PM Modi attacked the Congress government for its incapability to maintain law and order situation and peace in the state and said, “Those who cannot ensure peace in the state have no right to govern Manipur.” He further added, “Naga accord was signed one and half years ago. Was the Congress asleep that time? And, now they are spreading lies. The Naga accord does not compromise on the territorial integrity of Manipur. Congress government will have to answer for all the sufferings of the people of Manipur due to blockade.”

Prime Minister Modi assured that BJP was committed to work for welfare of the people of Manipur. He said, “BJP would leave no stone unturned for welfare of people of Manipur. We will undertake every possible measure for development of Manipur.”

Shri Modi reiterated his resolve for the development of eastern states and said, “We are giving impetus to infrastructure development in Manipur. We want the state to be directly connected with India's mainstream.”

The Prime Minister noted that the Centre had reduced stent prices which would bring down the cost of treatment drastically and benefit people. “We have reduced stent prices. We want the poor to have access to affordable healthcare and medication”, added the PM.

Shri Modi further mentioned that the Centre had eliminated interviews for jobs for grade 3 and 4 to reduce corruption. “We eliminated interview processes for class 3 and 4 jobs. This reduced corruption. We asked Manipur govt to implement it, but they did not”, Shri Modi said.

He urged people of the state to elect a BJP Government with full majority. “Manipur can contribute immensely to India's development. Tourism sector has a lot potential, youth here are talented, concluded the PM.
