On May 16th, Prime Minster Narendra Modi touched down Shanghai, the commercial capital of China. He landed to a warm welcome. It was the last leg of his three day visit to China.

The Prime Minister addressed the India-China Business Forum. Shri Modi said India is a knowledge society and China to be the land known for innovations. Prime Minister Modi pitched for ‘Make in India’, saying that the scope and potential, the breadth and length of infrastructure and related developments was very huge in India. He also noted that harmonious partnership between India and China was essential for economic development and political stability of the Asian continent.

Later in the day, PM Narendra Modi launched the Centre for Gandhian & Indian Studies at Fudan University. PM expressed joy that in his three day visit he got the opportunity to interact with students in two noted universities. While speaking at the launch, Shri Modi believed Gandhiji to be a 'Yug Purush' and a 'Vishwa Manav.'

The Prime Minister, in the evening, reached out to the Indian Community in Shanghai. He also thanked President Xi Jinping for having hosted in his home province Xi’an.

As Shri Narendra Modi headed for the second leg of his tour to Mongolia, the Prime Minister, taking to twitter, tweeted in Chinese, saying goodbye to the land of China. He expressed his gratitude for the warmth and hospitality. With this he hoped for better India-China ties, both strategically and economically.
