"Congress had promised to curb inflation in 100 days, but did they live up to their promises? Don’t trust those who betray public trust

If the governments of Vajpayee ji and Morarji Desai could stop price rise, why can't we? The BJP government in 2014 will do it, I assure you!”

- Narendra Modi

India under the rule of Congress led UPA has been bearing the brunt of high inflation. This has been primarily due to faulty policies and lack of proper planning to mitigate the challenge of price rise. Inflation has touched record levels during the last 10 years, but the UPA government has been unable to provide any relief from high prices.

Rather than trying to tackle the problem of inflation, leaders of the Congress party have repeatedly mocked the poor for rising inflation.

Watch Narendra Modi give voice to the emotions of Indians on price rise:

Though in the current scenario high inflation may appear inevitable, it is essential to recollect that the Atal Bihari Vajpayee led NDA Government, inspite of inheriting high inflation had successfully tackled inflation & kept it at low levels. The Consumer Price Index Trajectory shown below is a testimony to this fact:

It's time to defeat inflation, It's time to defeat Congress

Another troubling aspect of this situation has been the persistently high food inflation. While the NDA government left charge with a benign 4% food inflation in 2003-04, the food inflation in 2013-14 has been 9.5%.

Sometimes these indices may not convey entirely the severity of strangulation a common man feels as a result of spiraling prices. Prices of essential commodities have increased exponentially over the last ten years, making it very difficult for the common man to make ends meet.

Prices of petrol shot by 115%,prices of diesel shot up by 155% while prices of LPG cylinders shot up by 414% in the last 10 years. Similarly prices of Karela shot by 248% while that of Bhindi increased by 274% in the last 10 years!

To counter the menace of Price Rise, the Prime Minister constituted a Working Group on Consumer Affairs which submitted its Report in January 2011. This Committee was led by Shri Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Gujarat with other member Chief Ministers of States of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

This Committee led by Shri Modi gave 20 recommendations with 64 actionable points to help achieve symmetry in the markets, keep a check on inflation and help improve the condition of farmers.

These were the main points put forward in the report:

But unfortunately this report & the remedial measures continue to be on paper because of a lack of will to control inflation.

Since, the FCI plays a major role in procurement and distribution system of essential commodities, Narendra Modi has repeatedly called for unbundling of FCI operation in terms of procurement, storage and distribution functions.

Narendra Modi also advocates real time monitoring of yield & demand across India to target the problem of shortages which often manifests as price rise.

Watch how Congress has betrayed the nation after promising to stop rising prices in 100 days:

Thus it becomes clear that Congress cannot be trusted anymore when it comes to reducing inflation. It’s to give Narendra Modi a chance, as only he has a roadmap, a vision & most importantly the will to fight & defeat inflation.

So Abki Baar, Modi Sarkar.
