Today Indians across the world are celebrating the festival of Raksha Bandhan. On this auspicious day, I would like to extend my warm greetings to everyone.
Raksha Bandhan is a festival that has been an integral part of our culture for thousands of years. This is the festival that personifies the tremendous strength of the bond of affection between a brother and a sister. What is extremely special about this festival is the way in which it has always blended with the changing times. From antiquity, medieval times till the present, the nature and manner of celebrating it has varied a great deal but the novelty of Raksha Bandhan only increased!
Today we salute the power of Matru Shakti. It is a fact that any society that does not respect women cannot scale the heights of progress. We must ensure active participation of womanpower in the journey of development. In Gujarat, we have taken various progressive steps for Women’s Empowerment. And I am glad to share that the positive outcomes of these initiatives are already visible.
On Raksha Bandhan, I look forward to meeting people who come from all over Gujarat. These are people from various walks of life, belonging to all sections of society who come all the way to share some of their joys during this festival. Meeting them can truly liftone’s spirit!
