The BJP released its Manifesto for 2014 Lok Sabha Elections at the party headquarters in Delhi, on the morning of 7th April. Senior leaders Shri L K Advani and Smt. Sushma Swaraj, NDA’s Prime Ministerial candidate Shri Narendra Modi and BJP President Shri Rajnath Singh were present during the release.

The Election Manifesto, which revolves around the core issues of good governance and development, discusses in detail the Party’s focus at tackling the concerns of price rise, corruption, black money and policy paralysis. Setting up of effective Lokpal to ensure an open government, a focus on reviving anti-terror mechanism, allowing FDI for job and asset creation in all sectors except multi-brand retail sector, ensuring complete justice to Seemandhra and Telangana, launching the Diamond Quadrilateral project of a high speed train network, Madarsa modernisation and improved sanitation facilities are just some of the highlights of the Manifesto.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Narendra Modi affirmed that the Manifesto suitably captured the hopes and aspirations of the Nation. An assurance of the Party’s commitment towards fulfilling every word mentioned in the Manifesto was given by Shri Modi when he asserted how the document was not an election ritual for the BJP but the direction for its efforts and the focus towards achieving the Party’s goal of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.

Affirming the BJP’s mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’, Shri Modi said that every aspect of the Manifesto had a positive cumulative effect in the long run and was a step ahead in enabling the Party to continue its initiatives of good governance and development. “The Nation has stopped. This manifesto has what it takes to get it running again and fulfil the dreams of the people. A government must be one that thinks for the poor. A government must work for the poor, give them good education and better healthcare facilities. Delhi needs a strong government so that the world does not trouble us but works with us and we walk with our head held high,” said Shri Modi.

Revering the visionary leadership of senior leaders like Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Shri L K Advani, and recalling the mantra of Antyodaya (serving the last man in the queue) given by
Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, Shri Modi assured of the BJP’s undeterred commitment to ensure the welfare of the Nation and its people.

Senior leader Shri L K Advani termed the Manifesto as ‘Dosh Mukt’ and said, “We should have done things in the last century but now we have to do it now. This century will be ours.”

Senior party leader Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, who headed the Manifesto Committee, spoke of how a website seeking suggestions for the Manifesto was started, and the tremendous response received on it from across the country and even overseas, was suitably included in the Manifesto. Speaking of the focus for the Manifesto, Dr. Joshi said, “Our country has moved backwards in the last 10 years. The BJP Manifesto focusses on things that will help the country bounce back. We need to reform the system, bring e-governance and transparency in the system,” said Dr. Joshi.

Speaking on the occasion Party President Shri Rajnath Singh assured that the Manifesto would not be a set of empty promises, but rather would be a focused approach of the BJP in ensuring comprehensive and integrated development of India.

Leader of Opposition Smt. Sushma Swaraj urged the people to read every word of the Manifesto, which duly captured the Party’s campaign theme, and assured that the Nation will get back on track of growth within few days of the BJP forming government.

Senior leader Shri Arun Jaitley, in his video message, avowed that the Manifesto will duly respond to the challenges the Nation is facing and bring about the change it needs.
