Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed a massive farmers rally in Belagavi, Karnataka. Speaking at the occasion, Shri Modi said that since the NDA Government had come to power, the country was moving ahead at fast pace towards development. The PM stated that the entire world today looked at India with hope. He also said that efforts of the Government had reduced corruption in the country. 

The Prime Minister mentioned that development of India must be based on three pillars – agriculture, manufacturing and services sector. He said that new methods of irrigation and ‘Per Drop, More Crop’ were vital and helping farmers immensely. “We have focussed on how our poor and farmers become more prosperous and more jobs, industries are created”, he added further. He said that Government’s focus was to improve the irrigation facilities for the wellbeing of farmers. 

He highlighted the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana. The PM said that along with water, the land used for agriculture must be taken care of. He spoke about the Soil Health Card scheme unveiled by the Government. The PM cited how neem coated urea was benefitting the farmers as well as stopped theft of fertilizers. 

Shri Narendra Modi spoke at length about newly launched Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. He shed light on various aspects of the scheme. Through this scheme, Shri Modi said that farmers would not only have to pay much lower premiums but they would also get full sum insured unlike the capping previously. He added localized risks and post harvest losses were taken into account to ensure that no farmer was alone in times of distress. He urged the farmers to join the scheme in large numbers and take the benefits.
