CM addresses Vivekananda Yuva Parishad at Surat

CM announces laying stone for Rs.963 crore development works in Surat

Next five years will be the golden period for the state as we are resolute to build a divine and glorious Gujarat during it: Narendra Modi

Addressing the large number of youths present at the Vivekananda Yuva Parishad in Surat the chief minister Narendra Modi expressed resolve to empower the youths of Gujarat on the path shown by Swami Vivekananda. “Today when the entire country is immersed into disappointment, Gujarat with its youth power will be a ray of hope”, he said.

Chief Minister said the people gave him opportunity to serve the State for longest time and during next five years from January 2013 he desires to create a divine and glorious Gujarat.

As a part of Swami Vivekananda’s 150th birth anniversary celebration the state’s Youth Services and Cultural Activities department has organized a series of seven Vivekananda Yuva Parishad. The sixth parishad was organized today at Surat’s indoor stadium.

On the occasion, the chief minister announced laying foundation stone for the development works worth Rs.963 crore for Surat city. Chief Minister also distributed sports kits to the Vivekananda Yuva Kendras.

Speaking about Swami Vivekananda’s life the chief minister said, “swamiji predicted that he would leave his mortal body at the age of 40. His prediction came true. In 1897 Swamiji asked people to forget all of their deities for next fifty years and worship only the mother India. And precisely after fifty years India got independence. Swamiji has also predicted that India would emerge as jagadguru (world leader/guide). And for this to come true he had his faith on the youth power”. Unfortunately we could not actualize the words of swamiji even after 150 years. Indian leadership after independence has crushed the dreams of great men of this land. We had a hope that 21st century would be of India’s, but even after the end of first decade of 21st century we saw a shocking incident of power cut which engulfed the 60% parts of the country. In such a situation, Gujarat was brightening with uninterrupted power supply, said the chief minister.

Countering to the falsehood spread by Congress Mr.Modi said that Gujarat has given 72% of employment out of total employment provided in the country during last five years. He challenged the Prime Minister to compete with Gujarat on the front of giving employment. “If Gujarat can give 72% of employment, why not the Centre”, he questioned. Highlighting the pro-people initiatives of state government Mr.Modi said the government has decided to stay as guarantor for the youths who avail bank loans for business or professions. During last 11 years the state government has made 3.5 lakh recruitments. Upper age bar for government jobs has been raised from 25 to 28 and from 28 to 30. The government will build modern hostels in 62 cities at the cost of Rs.100 crore for the youths who come to cities for higher education.

He said the state government has decided to build a sports complex in every district. Moreover, sports kits will be distributed to all the 14,000 Vivekananda Yuva Kendras of the state.

Chief Minster also announced the decision of implementing choice based education system for the university students. He expressed desire to provide ample of opportunities to the youths for actualizing the dreams of swami Vivekananda.
