Ahmedabad, Monday : Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi released the state's brand ambassador Amitabh Bachchan's three short Ad films on 'Kutch', 'Gir Lion Sanctuary' and 'Somnath' under the title of 'Khushbu Gujarat Ki' in presence of the mega star here this evening.

After viewing the films at a special screening, Mr. Modi profusely congratulated Amitabh Bachchan and his team for projecting the state's rich heritage and majestic places of tourist interest before the world in a befitting manner through what he described as 'excellent' Ad films.

During his courtesy call on the Chief Minister, the mega star said he was greatly impressed by the Sabarmati Riverfront Project too, as a gift to the city of Ahmedabad, flushing the river with Narmada waters.

The mega star also visited Gandhi Ashram on the bank of Sabarmati and tried his hand at the spinning wheel 'charkha'.

Briefing the mega star about the other projects being undertaken by the government on the footprints of the Bapu, Mr. Modi described Mahatma Gandhi as a man of the millennium and Gujarat's efforts to project the Mahatma's life and philosophy across the world.

Some of the projects included building a technology-driven Gandhi Museum,majestic world-class Mahatma Mandir at Gandhinagar, holding fashion show to promote 'khadi' as the people's fabric and at the same time empowering the poorest strata of the society to earn livelihood.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Tourism Minister Jay Narayan Vyas, Gujarat Tourism Corporation Chairman Kamlesh Patel, Tourism Secretary Vipul Mitra, 'Khushbu Gujarat Ki' producer Piyush Pande and Commissioner of Information V. Thiruppugazh.
